Camberley fire station gets 4x4 to tackle heath fires

A new 4x4 fire and rescue vehicle designed to tackle heath and woodland fires is being used by firefighters at a fire station in Camberley, Surrey.

The Unimog can be used off-road and has capacity for 5,000 litres of water and 200 litres of foam.

Station manager Neil Owen said Surrey Heath had a considerable amount of vulnerable heathland which was at risk from wildfires.

He said several firefighters had been trained to use the new equipment.
