A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted abduction after a girl was approached in Surrey.

Police said the 12-year-old girl was approached by a man in a green vehicle in Inkerman Road, Knaphill on Monday.

A man had spoken to a five-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl in separate incidents in the same village on 4 May and 5 May, Surrey Police said earlier.

The arrested man from Woking remains in custody. Officers are investigating possible links between the incidents.

Det Ch Insp Karen Mizzi said: "Although we have made an arrest our inquiries are still at an early stage and I would continue to urge anyone with any information to come forward."
