Surrey man extradited from Mexico facing drug charge

A Surrey man has been charged with a conspiracy to smuggle drugs into the UK following his extradition from Mexico.

Alan Sibley, 55, arrived at Heathrow Airport on Thursday escorted by Surrey Police officers who had flown out to Mexico City.

Mr Sibley, whose previous address was in Lightwater, is accused of conspiracy to import cocaine and escaping from lawful custody in 2005.

He is expected to appear at Staines Magistrates' Court later.

Det Insp Ben Lee said: "This successful extradition follows months of hard work from a number of agencies and co-operation from the Mexican authorities."
