Guildford car park chemical incident victim treated

A man has been taken to hospital following an incident involving chemicals in a car park in Surrey.

Police were called to the scene in the Silent Pool area of Guildford just before midday, and motorists were subsequently advised to avoid the area.

The man was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital suffering from the effects of the inhalation of chemicals. A woman was also taken as a precaution.

The car park is currently closed, but the affected A25 has been re-opened.

Officers said the car park would not open until clean-up procedures had been completed and a vehicle removed.

Motorists were advised to avoid the A25 between Newlands Corner and Gomshall, which was closed in both directions.
