Former Surrey Police officer to face fraud charges

A former Surrey Police officer is to appear in court to face 58 charges relating to fraud.

Former Chief Inspector Tanya Brookes, 45, was arrested in January.

Surrey Police said Ms Brookes was serving with the force at the time of the alleged crimes but they were not related to her role.

A serving senior officer arrested in connection with the investigation will not face criminal charges but remains suspended, the force said.

Ms Brookes is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on 26 February.
