Surrey elderly man victim of £2,000 distraction burglary

Thieves stole a wallet containing £2,000 from the home of a man in his 90s in a distraction burglary in Surrey, police said.

Officers said two men got into the house in the Broadbridge Lane area of Smallfield by claiming to be from the water board.

Det Con David Fair said the incident on Monday was a heartless crime against an elderly and vulnerable person.

The suspects were described as white and in their 40s.

Police said they were wearing black woolly hats and black leather jackets with yellow high-visibility stripes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the force.
