Attempted armed robbery at Ladbrokes in Surrey

A man armed with a handgun threatened staff as he tried to rob a bookmakers in Surrey.

CCTV images have been released of the man who entered Ladbrokes, in Brighton Road, Salfords, at 14:25 GMT on Tuesday.

Surrey Police said he was carrying a bag and pulled out what is believed to have been a silver handgun.

After threatening a member of staff at the front counter, who refused to open the till, he left quickly on foot.

The man has been described as white, in his 40s, with an English accent and wearing a blue top.

He had his face covered with a black hat and a scarf.
