Tandridge Golf Club's silver trophies stolen

Tandridge Golf Club The burglars forced open a locked trophy cabinet at Tandridge Golf Club in Oxted

Silver trophies have been stolen from a golf club in Surrey by intruders who broke into the premises at night.

The burglars forced open a locked wooden trophy cabinet at Tandridge Golf Club, in Godstone Road, Oxted, in the early hours of 23 December.

Surrey Police said a quantity of silverware was stolen in the robbery, which was one of several involving golf clubs in the county in recent months.

Some of the items had been at the club for decades, a spokeswoman said.

Det Con Portia Andrews added that they were of "great sentimental value to the club and its members".

She urged metal dealers and members of the public to look out for the items and to contact police with any information.
