M25 major upgrade work begins
Main construction work will begin next spring
Initial work on a multi-million pound upgrade to the M25 between Kent and Surrey is due to get under way, the Highways Agency has said.
It will include checking drainage, installing equipment, relocating wildlife and clearing vegetation.
The overnight work using lane and slip road closures will pave the way to add capacity from junction five to seven.
Main construction work to make the hard shoulder available to drivers as an extra lane will begin next spring.
