Surrey caravan fire: Man arrested over serious injuries

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a caravan fire left another man in hospital with serious burns.

The 40-year-old from London is being held by police after the blaze broke out at 00:50 BST off Perrylands Lane in Smallfield near Horley in Surrey.

Surrey Police say the cause is unclear but they think an accelerant was used.

A man, 30, is in a serious condition at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead following the fire which shut junction nine of the M23 for an hour.

The blaze also damaged an outbuilding.
