Armed men tie up four people in Guildford robbery

Three men and a woman were tied up and threatened with a knife and imitation gun by three masked men who broke into a house in Surrey.

Cash in sterling and euros, along with an iPhone and a games console were stolen in the robbery in Chestnut Road, Guildford, at 03:45 BST.

Surrey Police said none of the occupants was injured but it was an extremely frightening ordeal.

"We do not believe this was a random attack," said Det Sgt Anna Leahy.

"The offenders targeted this property in the belief one of the occupants was known to them."

London accents

The police dog unit and forensics experts have been on the scene and house-to-house inquiries have been carried out.

Police have appealed to any witnesses to come forward.

Officers want to establish whether a small beige car parked on Recreation Road around the same time was linked to the robbery.

"I am confident there would have been people still out and about in Guildford who may have seen or heard something suspicious," said Ms Leahy.

All three robbers had London accents. Two are described as black, and wearing black trousers, black hooded tops with blue scarves covering their faces. The third was white and wearing similar clothing.
