Surrey film unit awarded enterprise mark
A film unit set up by Surrey County Council has been officially recognised as a social enterprise.
The Community Film Unit, set up by the youth development service as a collective of young adults, has been awarded the Social Enterprise Mark.
The national award confirms the unit as an organisation that reinvests profits into activities to benefit its local neighbourhoods.
The unit has made films for Surbiton Hockey Club and Surrey Youth Games.
It was set up just over a year ago and also works in graphic design, still photography, web design and music production.
"It's fantastic news that this home-grown social enterprise has been given this prestigious national recognition," said councillor Kay Hammond.
"I'm delighted for the people involved with the film unit and I look forward to it going from strength to strength."
