A man who attacked a woman with a meat cleaver at a Chinese takeaway in Ipswich has been found not guilty of attempted murder.

Ruojn Tian, who is in her 40s, was found unconscious at the New China on Garrick Way in November.

Lianjun Sun, 51, of Cromer Road, denied the more serious charge but admitted wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

He is due to be sentenced at a later date at Ipswich Crown Court.

The ambulance service called police at about 15:20 GMT on Friday, 1 November.

Ms Tian was taken to Ipswich Hospital with severe neck injuries and has been recovering since.

The judge is waiting for psychiatric reports on Sun before his sentencing, which would not be before 30 April.
