Holywells Park in Ipswich to get outdoor theatre
An outdoor theatre is to be built in an Ipswich park as part of a £3.4m restoration project.
The work at Holywells Park, which is on the outskirts of the town centre, will also include new toilets, a fitness trail and an outdoor classroom.
The Grade II listed orangery will be restored and a visitor centre built.
The project has been given £2.8m from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund, with Ipswich Borough Council also contributing.
Bryony Rudkin, portfolio holder for culture, said the £2.8m pledge was "great news for Ipswich".
"We will now be able to undertake this important refurbishment to attract more visitors to one of Suffolk's finest parks and to ensure that people who come here have more to see and do," Ms Rudkin said.
The Heritage Lottery Fund said Holywells Park, which covers 67 acres, was "hugely important" to the local community and the money would help "secure its future".
