Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 50s collapsed and died in a Bury St Edmunds pub car park.

Suffolk Police cordoned off an area behind the St Edmunds Tavern on Risbygate Street at about 09:00 GMT.

A local man, 55, was arrested on Wednesday afternoon and another man, 59, was arrested in the evening. Both are being questioned.

Police are waiting for the results of a post-mortem examination.

The woman's identity will not be released until her next-of-kin have been informed.

Officers were called to the scene by paramedics but the woman was pronounced dead in the car park.

Blood was found in an area further along Risbygate Street. A cordon set up there has been lifted by police.

Police said they had set up two further cordons in Petch Close as part of the investigation.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was at the pub or in the Risbygate Street area from Tuesday evening through to the early hours of Wednesday.
