Body found at house fire in Kentford, Suffolk

Kentford house fire The house remained cordoned off by the police a day later

A woman's body has been found following a house fire near Newmarket.

Fire crews and the police were called to Bury Road, Kentford at about 09:00 GMT on Friday and closed off roads.

A man, in his 60s, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds, and treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.

The body was later found inside the house. A post-mortem examination has failed to establish the cause of death and further tests will be carried out.

The house remained cordoned off on Saturday and police said, while the cause of the fire is being treated as unexplained, it is not being treated as suspicious.

Suffolk Police said next-of-kin had been informed but formal identification had yet to take place.
