Suffolk GP Dr Darryl Peel in critical condition after fire

A Suffolk GP is in a critical condition in hospital after suffering serious burns in a bonfire accident.

Dr Darryl Peel, who is in his 50s, was at his home in Huntingfield near Halesworth when the incident happened on Wednesday morning.

He was airlifted to the specialist burns unit at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, with serious burns.

Framlingham Surgery, where he works, said their thoughts were with him.

Dr Charles Wright, senior partner at the Framlingham practice, said: "We are sorry to have to report that Dr Peel has been involved in a serious accident.

"Our thoughts are with him and his family at this time. Patients of Dr Peel will be seen by the other GPs at the surgery."
