Thailand missing man Tom Armstrong's bank account used

Money has been withdrawn from the bank account of a Suffolk man who went missing in Thailand earlier this month.

Tom Armstrong, 22, from Kelsale near Saxmundham, was due to fly home and arrive at Heathrow on 9 January, but he did not board his flight.

Suffolk Police said he had not been in contact since, while the withdrawal was made in the Thai capital Bangkok on 16 January.

His family is appealing for him to get in contact with them or the police.

Mr Armstrong, who is 6ft 2ins tall, has fair hair and an occasional short red beard, had been in Thailand since last April and had been on a diving course on the island of Koh Tao.

He was last in contact with his family via email on 6 January, when he told them he was flying home.

Mother's plea

Helen Armstrong-Bland, his mother, said: "We desperately want him home as we are all missing him terribly, especially his brothers Luke, George and his little sister Bella, who Tom adores.

"We just want to receive any information that would tell us Tom is alive and well and if he is reading this, I would urge him to get in touch with us or with police and let us know that he is ok."

Suffolk Police said they were working with contacts in Thailand and it was believed Mr Armstrong was still in Thailand, possibly in the Bangkok area.

Det Ch Insp Neil Luckett said: "Despite our efforts, we have not been able to locate him and we are urging anyone with information about Tom, in the UK or Thailand, to come forward.

"If, for whatever reason, he does not wish to speak with family or friends I would ask him to contact the authorities in the UK or wherever he is."
