Man found dead on Buxhall road in icy conditions

A man has been found dead on an icy road and Suffolk Police are investigating if he was hit by a car.

The pedestrian, believed to be in his 70s, was found on Brettenham Road, Buxhall near Stowmarket with head injuries at about 15:40 GMT on Tuesday.

Sgt Bob Patterson said: "The circumstances surrounding this incident are still unclear.

"Initial reports suggest the man may have fallen into the road, but we are appealing for witnesses."

Meanwhile, a man is in a critical condition in hospital after a car drove into the back of a lorry which was parked in a lay-by on the A14 in Suffolk.

It happened on the westbound carriageway at Haughley at 00:10 GMT.

The man, who is in his 30s, was found, conscious and breathing but with serious injuries, in a silver Vauxhall Insignia.

He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital and transferred to Addenbrookes in Cambridge.
