A lorry overturned on a bridge on the A12 in Ipswich, shedding some of its load on to the A14 below.

Some of the load of wooden objects struck a car travelling on the A14 towards Felixstowe at about 10:10 BST at the Copdock roundabout.

PC Paul Fletcher said the driver was "lucky" to have only minor injuries. The lorry driver was uninjured.

The east and westbound carriageways of the A14 were closed after the accident but have since reopened.

Structural engineers were called in to assess the damage to the bridge and railings.
