Brandon GP Imran Khalid Khan charged with sexual assault

A doctor has been charged with 12 counts of sexual assault, including seven relating to a girl under the age of 13.

Imran Khalid Khan was charged in relation to five alleged incidents in 2007 in Woolpit, near Bury St Edmunds, and seven last year in Brandon.

The 39-year-old, who is a GP at the Forest Group Practice in Brandon, has been released on police bail.

He is due to appear at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates' Court on 10 April.

The General Medical Council has placed Dr Khan under special conditions.

Except in life-threatening emergencies, he must not undertake consultations with any female patients without a chaperone present.

Other conditions include not taking part in any out-of-hours work or home visits.
