Armchair from bungalow fire, Beccles Fire crews moved the armchair on to the lawn of the bungalow in Ellough Road

A woman, believed to be in her 50s, has died in a bungalow fire in Beccles.

Fire crews were called to a property on Ellough Road at about 12:40 GMT after reports that a passerby had pulled the woman unconscious from the house where an armchair was alight.

East of England Ambulance Service and the East Anglian Air Ambulance medics said they tried to save her, but she was declared dead at the scene.

Fire crews said the fire was under control at 13:02 GMT.

Phil Embry, Suffolk's assistant chief fire officer, said: "We were confronted by a small, but intense, fire in an armchair in the premises.

"We've got a full fire investigation going on. We don't believe there is anything suspicious."
