The majority Conservative group leader of Suffolk County Council, Mark Bee, will formally elected as council leader later.

Former leader Jeremy Pembroke, who stepped down from the role in April, will become vice-chairman.

Patricia O'Brien will step up to become chairman, replacing Eddy Alcock.

Mr Bee resigned from his position as leader of Waveney District Council to take up the role. Colin Law has been appointed to take his place.

In April Mr Bee beat off competition from Colin Noble and Guy MacGregor to be given the post.

At the time he said he wanted to take a step back and review Suffolk County Council's new strategic direction programme.

"With services such as libraries, household waste recycling, school and college transport, we need to take time to consider the implications before we make the final decisions," he said.

You can listen to an interview with the new leader of Suffolk County Council on Friday morning on BBC Radio Suffolk's breakfast show, on-air from 0600 to 0900 BST.
