BBC Suffolk Breakfast Show presenter Mark Murphy is encouraging listeners to take part in the Orwell Walk on Sunday, 26 June, 2011.

The 25 mile round trip goes between Ipswich and Felixstowe, but there are also designated shorter routes.

Twenty five percent of sponsorship goes to organisers the Rotary Club of East Ipswich, with the rest going to a charity of the walker's choice.

"It really is win win - and if I can do it, so can you!" said Mark Murphy.

"This is an amazingly simple way of raising money for a charity or cause close to you.

"You can walk with friends or family and they can walk for their chosen charity."

The first Orwell Walk took place in 1977 and last year it raised money for over 134 charities.

This year's walk is also being backed by Healthy Ambitions Suffolk, which aims to make the county the healthiest in the UK by 2028.

"Increasing the volume of walking we undertake is a major way to improve heart health," said Dr Peter Funnell, chairman.

You can register for the 2011 Orwell Walk via the Ipswich East Rotary Club website or by phoning Norman Haines on 01473 215333.
