Boy, 9, dies after falling into weir on River Dove

A nine-year-old boy has died after falling into a weir on the River Dove in Staffordshire.

The boy is thought to have got into difficulty in the water near Tutbury Mill on Friday evening.

He was taken to Queen's Hospital in Burton-upon-Trent, where he later died. He has not yet been formally identified.

His death is not being treated as suspicious. West Midlands Ambulance service called it "a tragic incident".
