Staffordshire walker killed by stampeding cows, say police

A walker has been killed by a "stampeding" herd of cows on the Derbyshire/Staffordshire border, police have said.

Peter Jakeman, 62, from Cornwall, was fatally injured while walking at Upper Mayfield at 09:05 BST on Wednesday.

Staffordshire Police said Mr Jakeman died in hospital.

A spokesperson said his death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the Health and Safety Executive.
