Woman dies in Stafford house fire

A woman has died in a house fire in Stafford, police have said.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called to the blaze at a semi-detached house on Tamar Grove, Western Downs, at 08:10 BST.

The three crews were able to contain the fire but the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene, Staffordshire Police said.

The woman's relatives have been informed and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
