Newcastle-under-Lyme house murder accused pleads guilty

One of two men accused of murdering a 44-year-old man in Staffordshire has pleaded guilty.

Andrew Scott, 29, of Price Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme, admitted murdering Anthony Hughes, at a house in Wilmot Drive in the town.

Steven Yeomans, 43, of Wilmot Drive, pleaded not guilty to murder, at Stafford Crown Court and is due to stand trial on 4 August.

Post-mortem tests showed Mr Hughes died from head injuries, on 28 December.

Both charged men were remanded in custody.
