Damien Fyson Damien Fyson was found dead by police at 05:30 GMT on Wednesday

Detectives have been given more time to question a suspect over the murder of a man at a flat in Stoke-on-Trent.

Damien Fyson, 37, was found in his apartment in Wainwright Walk, Hanley, at 05:30 GMT on Wednesday. He had been stabbed in the chest.

A 40-year-old man was still being held on suspicion of murder, police said.

Two other women, aged 42 and 61, and a man, 55, arrested in connection with his death were released without charge, police said.

Staffordshire Police said forensic examinations were continuing in Wainwright Walk and at two other addresses in the city which are believed to be linked to the stabbing.

A cordon around the block of flats remained in place, it said.

Mr Fyson's mother, Cherie, said: "The whole family is devastated by the loss of Damien and we would ask anyone who has any information about his death to contact the police immediately."
