Anthony Monaghan in court over attack on woman

A man has appeared in court over an attack on a woman that left her critically ill in hospital.

Anthony Monaghan, from Salford Road in Coventry, is accused of assaulting the 49-year-old woman in Pandora Road in the early hours of Saturday.

The woman suffered serious head injuries.

Mr Monaghan, 44, appeared before magistrates in Coventry on Monday charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the city's crown court on 17 March.
