Staffordshire A38 crash van driver killed

A man has died after the van he was driving was involved in a collision with a lorry in Staffordshire.

The crash happened on the A38's southbound carriageway, between the north and south exits for Burton upon Trent, at 14:50 GMT.

The lorry driver, believed to be aged in his 40s or 50s, suffered back injuries and was taken to Queen's Hospital in Burton on a spinal board.

An ambulance spokesman said the van driver was declared dead at the scene.
