Peter Goffe, 86, and his wife Beryl, 85, died in the blaze which began at about 18:20 BST on Tuesday.

It is believed to have started in a bedroom at their detached house in Lichfield Road, Stone. The couple were confirmed dead at the scene.

Staffordshire Police said a joint investigation with the fire service revealed it had been a "tragic accident".

Crews from Stone were called to the house after the alarm was raised by a relative of the couple.
