Stafford man killed in tree collision is named

A 39-year-old Stafford man who was killed when his car collided with a tree on his way home has been named by police.

Ian McDonald's BMW 330 was found in Congreve Road, Congreve, on Wednesday morning, but police believe he may have crashed hours earlier.

PC Andy Hogan said: "He had called his family on his way home at 22:00 BST to say he would be delayed.

"The vehicle was found at 04:50 by a passing motorist."

Staffordshire Police appealed for witnesses.
