Stoke-on-Trent shop worker stabbed by man

A shop worker has been stabbed in the back six times in Stoke-on-Trent.

An attacker wearing a balaclava also used "some form of noxious spray" on the worker at Hayat Supermarket off Snow Hill, Shelton, police said.

The injured man went to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire, but has been discharged.

Police said a forensic examination was carried out and CCTV was being viewed after the incident, which happened at about 21:45 BST on Friday.

Officers said nothing was taken from the shop.
