A seven-month old puppy has been stolen from her owner during a walk in woods near Rugby.

Two men started a conversation with the owner of the German Shepherd, named Star, as he walked in Brandon Woods, Wolston on Monday at about 21:00 BST.

One of the men pushed the dog owner to the ground while a second man grabbed the animal's lead and ran away, police said.

The man was not injured and police have been searching for the dog.

Kate Turner, from Warwickshire Police, said Star was a light-coloured German Shepherd with two missing teeth at the front of her mouth, and is micro-chipped.

She added police were keen to hear from anyone who has seen Star, or may have witnessed the incident.
