A500 closure Two lorries crashed into two stationary police cars near the Basford roundabout

Three separate crashes led to the closure of the A500 in Stoke-on-Trent.

The road was closed northbound between Basford roundabout and Tunstall after a lorry overturned, spilling diesel onto the carriageway.

The southbound carriageway was shut between the roundabout and the B5045 Shelton New Road junction due to a crash involving two lorries and a car.

Two lorries then also crashed into two stationary police cars. The A500 fully reopened both ways by 15:00 BST.

The first crash happened at about 00:40 BST.

Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
