Horse stuck in Staffordshire pool rescued

More than 20 firefighters have helped rescue a horse which was stuck in a Staffordshire swimming pool.

The fire service was called to a farm in Thorney Lane, Newborough, at 22:10 GMT on Thursday.

The horse, which was standing in a pool about 6ft 6ins at its deepest, was rescued safely and checked by a vet, Staffordshire fire service said.

Two crews from Burton-upon-Trent, two from Cannock and one from Abbots Bromley were called.

The animal was out of the pool by about 23:45 GMT.
