Woman's body discovered in Cannock street

A woman's body has been discovered in a street in Staffordshire.

Officers were called to Hazelslade, Cannock, at about 04:10 GMT following the discovery of the body of Amanda Appleton, who was from the town.

The 36-year-old's death is "being treated as unexplained at this stage," a spokesman for Staffordshire Police said.

A post-mortem examination will take place over the coming days to establish the cause of Ms Appleton's death.

Part of Rugeley Road remains cordoned off while an examination of the scene continues.
