Stuart Blackwell was dog walker killed in Lichfield crash

A man and his dog who were killed in a suspected hit-and-run have been named.

Stuart Blackwell, 40, of Manley Road in Lichfield, died following the collision on the A5127 Burton Road in Streethay at about 07:40 GMT on Friday.

Mr Blackwell was walking his black Labrador dog, Oscar, who also died in the crash.

In a tribute, Mr Blackwell's wife Clare said he was a devoted father to their eight-year-old daughter and a dedicated and responsible dog owner.

She added: "Stuart walked the same route every weekday, at the same time for the past eight years, until Friday."

A 21-year-old Lichfield man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and questioned before being released on police bail pending further inquiries.
