Jason Mayer jailed for life for Kelvin Williams murder

Jason Bryn Mayer Mayer was told he would spend at least 22 years in jail

A man has been jailed for life for murdering another man found stabbed to death at his Stoke-on-Trent home.

Kelvin Williams was killed at his home in Westbourne Drive, Tunstall, in December 2011. Jason Bryn Mayer, 42, admitted his murder.

Mr Williams, 58, was described by Staffordshire Police as a "vulnerable man".

A judge at Birmingham Crown Court told Mayer, of no fixed address, he would serve a minimum of 22 years in jail.

Police said Mayer had visited Mr Williams's home and the two men had argued, before Mayer "brutally killed" his victim.

After Mayer pleaded guilty last month, Mr Williams' family spoke about their "overwhelming sense of loss".

They said in a statement that they could take "some comfort" from his plea.
