Flood warnings for River Churnet and River Hamps lifted

Two flood warnings issued in Staffordshire following heavy rain have been lifted.

The Environment Agency said earlier the River Hamps at Waterhouses was at risk, threatening Leek Road.

The agency said river levels had risen quickly overnight and were expected to continue to rise in the morning.

However, the warning was lifted by lunchtime, while a warning for the River Churnet at Leek was downgraded to a flood alert.
