Boy, 7, killed in van collision in Cheslyn Hay

A seven-year-old boy who was believed to have been riding a scooter died when he was hit by a van in Staffordshire.

The boy was hit by the Mercedes Sprinter security van at the entrance to the Co-op car park in Landywood Lane, Cheslyn Hay, on Wednesday.

He suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene, a police spokesman said.

Anyone who saw the incident at about 17:45 BST is urged to contact Staffordshire Police.

The family of the boy from Cheslyn Hay have been informed and were being supported by officers, the spokesman added.

Part of Landywood Lane was sealed off while investigations were carried out.
