Thomas McCauley named as man killed in A500 Porthill crash

A 19-year-old man who died when he was hit by a car on a dual carriageway in Staffordshire has been named by police.

Thomas McCauley, from Longfield Road, Hartshill, was confirmed dead at the scene of the crash on the A500 at Porthill on Thursday.

Emergency services were called at 18:30 BST after reports a Toyota Land Cruiser had hit a man.

A family from Derbyshire, who were in the vehicle, were taken to hospital and treated for shock, police said.

Staffordshire police have renewed their appeals for anyone who saw the crash or Mr McCauley to contact the force.

The teenager was wearing a grey hooded top and blue tracksuit bottoms at the time of the incident.
