Staffordshire man guilty of mother's murder
A man has been found guilty of murdering his mother in a "vicious unprovoked attack".
Josef Cupori, 24, of Elm Street in Cobridge, had denied killing 43-year-old Anna Cuporiova in March 2011.
Her body was discovered by paramedics at an address on Elm Street. A post-mortem examination revealed she died from a neck wound.
Cupori was remanded in custody, to be sentenced at Stafford Crown Court at a later date.
Det Insp Glyn Pattinson, who led the investigation for Staffordshire Police, said Cupori had launched a "vicious, unprovoked attack on a defenceless woman".
He added: "Cupori's relationship with his mother had deteriorated but there was no prior warning he would kill her.
"He then attempted to hide her body in his bedroom, but was disturbed and fled the scene."
In a statement, Ms Cuporiova's family said they continued to grieve after her "tragic death" and described the court case as "extremely stressful".
