A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 29-year-old man who was stabbed in Stoke-on-Trent.

Dalbagh Singh Malhi, from High Lane, Burslem, died in hospital following an incident in Wellfield Road, Bentilee, on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died from a single stab wound to the chest.

Lee Shaw, 33, from Smallthorne, was remanded in custody after appearing at North Staffordshire magistrates.

The case has been referred to Stafford Crown Court where Mr Shaw is due to appear via video link on Wednesday.
