Digger used in Tamworth cash machine raid bid
Substantial damage was caused, police said
A digger has been used in an attempt to steal money from a cash machine at a Staffordshire industrial estate.
Police were called to an alarm activation at a Co-op store on the Tame Valley Industrial Estate in Tamworth at 02:45 GMT.
The incident appears to have caused substantial damage, but trading at the store has continued, the Staffordshire force said.
CCTV footage is being studied and inquiries are ongoing.
Police could not confirm if any money had been taken from the ATM.
