Blue Glove Boxing Academy gets permanent home

A boxing club run by two Staffordshire police officers plans to increase its work with young people after moving to a new permanent home.

The Blue Glove Boxing Academy, run by PC Colin Gay and PC Steve Marsh, has moved to Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent.

Local businesses have helped provide both the premises and sponsorship.

PC Gay said: "Our aim now is to increase the positive engagement work we do with young people across the city and to develop the sport of boxing."

The club, which was founded in 2005, wanted to find premises where members could train in the day and at weekends.

The club is also used by other police officers, who are training for a charity event in April where they take on boxers from the New York and Los Angeles police departments.
