Stafford former police HQ: Consultation launched

Residents and businesses are being invited to comment on plans to develop the site of the former police headquarters in Stafford.

Staffordshire Police are looking for developers to carry out a housing scheme at Baswich House.

The force moved its operations to Weston Road and is in the process of trying to sell the old base.

Outline permission for residential use has been granted and a planning and design statement has been prepared.

Community masterplan

Stafford Borough Council is asking for views from residents about what they would like to see regarding housing, and what the surrounding open space could be used for.

Frances Beatty, cabinet member for planning and regeneration, said: "We know how important this site is so we are very keen to hear the views of local people. This will help us provide a masterplan for the community.

"Where you have a group of houses you need the facilities to go with them and we want to hear what people have to say about this."

The consultation period will end on 16 December.
