A £2m revamp of a Stoke-on-Trent park which will include fully restoring a Victorian pavillion has started.

The Burslem Park redevelopment will also see thousands of plants and shrubs planted and rockeries and gardens revamped.

Work, which follows a successful bid for money from the Heritage Lottery Fund, is due to finish by summer 2012.

Areas will be fenced off during the project, but the park will remain open, the city council said.

It added that any disruption would be kept to a minimum.
