South Yorkshire open prison escapee arrested

A 22-year-old man who went missing from an open prison in South Yorkshire more than seven weeks ago has been arrested.

Mounir Jaouane disappeared from Hatfield prison near Doncaster on 30 June.

South Yorkshire Police said he was arrested in Sheffield on Monday. He was jailed in 2007 and was serving an indeterminate sentence for robbery.

Jaouane was the seventh prisoner to abscond from the prison since May. Five others have been re-arrested.
